View Our General Practitioners

A general practitioner (GP) is a trained doctor responsible for diagnosing and treating people who are dealing with any type of disease or illness. Our Glenroy General Practitioners usually see patients at the start of their treatment. A GP not only provides medical care for immediate relief but also guides overall health and well-being. A General Practitioner in Glenroy at Magnus Medical doesn’t just focus on one disease or part of the body. Instead, they can handle a wide range of health issues, while a specialist only focuses on a specific condition or area.

Appointments Offered By Our GP's

Many diseases can be assessed by our Glenroy general practitioners at Magnus Medical. Here we have listed diseases that can be assessed by our general practitioners:
Our experienced and friendly doctors, nurses and admin staff are all dedicated to giving you the highest quality in medical care, we offer a wide range of services.
A standard consultation is suitable for one or two straightforward health concerns, such as a new symptom, prescription renewal, or test results. It allows your GP to assess the issue, provide treatment, and give advice efficiently.

A long consultation is recommended for more complex or multiple concerns, ongoing conditions, mental health support, or when extra time is needed to discuss your health in detail.

The benefit of having the right consultation length is that it ensures you receive thorough, unrushed care. Longer appointments allow for deeper discussion, better planning, and more personalised treatment—helping your doctor address your concerns safely and effectively.
A care plan is a personalised health plan created by your GP to help you manage a long-term or ongoing health condition. It outlines your health goals, recommended treatments, and the different healthcare providers involved in your care, such as allied health professionals.

The benefit of a care plan is that it ensures your care is coordinated, structured, and focused on your individual needs. It helps improve health outcomes, keeps everyone involved on the same page, and may allow you to access Medicare-rebated allied health services, reducing out-of-pocket costs. Your care plan is reviewed regularly to make sure it continues to support your health goals.

A health assessment is a comprehensive check-up with your GP that looks at your overall physical, mental, and lifestyle health. It involves discussing your medical history, current concerns, medications, and risk factors, as well as checking things like blood pressure, weight, and preventive health needs.

The benefit of a health assessment is that it helps identify health issues early, prevent future problems, and create a plan to keep you well. It supports proactive, preventative care and allows your doctor to tailor advice, screenings, and follow-up to your individual needs—helping you stay healthier for longer.
Child immunisations protect babies and children from serious and potentially life-threatening illnesses and are given according to the National Immunisation Program Schedule (NIPS). They help build immunity early in life and protect the wider community.

Adult immunisations help maintain protection over time and include booster vaccines and those recommended due to age, work, medical conditions, or lifestyle.

Travel immunisations protect against diseases common in certain countries and are tailored to your destination and travel plans.

The benefit of immunisation is strong, long-term protection against preventable diseases, reduced risk of complications, and safer travel and everyday living for you and your family.
Wound management is a dedicated visit with a GP and nurse to assess, clean, dress, and monitor a wound such as cuts, ulcers, surgical wounds, or infected injuries. During the appointment, the wound is carefully checked for signs of infection, healing progress, and any complications, with appropriate treatment provided.

The benefit of a wound management appointment is that it supports faster healing, reduces the risk of infection, and helps prevent long-term problems such as scarring or delayed recovery. Regular wound care ensures your wound is managed safely and promotes the best possible healing outcome.
A minor procedure is a short medical procedure performed by a GP to diagnose or treat a specific condition. This may include things like removal of skin lesions or moles, ingrown toenail treatment, biopsies, wound suturing, or abscess drainage. Minor procedures are usually done safely in the clinic under local anaesthetic, without the need for hospital admission.

The benefit of having a minor procedure at your medical centre is convenience, quicker treatment, and reduced waiting times. It allows prompt care in a familiar setting, helps prevent complications, and can reduce the need for hospital visits or specialist referrals.
Telehealth is a medical consultation conducted with your GP by phone or video, allowing you to receive care without coming into the clinic. It is suitable for many health needs, such as discussing test results, managing ongoing conditions, mental health support, prescription renewals, and follow-up appointments.

Telehealth is convenient and accessible. It saves travel time, reduces the need to take time off work, and allows you to access medical care from home or another safe location. Telehealth also supports continuity of care, especially for patients with mobility issues, busy schedules, or those who are unwell.
A skin check is a thorough examination of your skin by a GP to look for suspicious moles, lesions, or changes that could indicate skin cancer or other skin conditions. Your doctor will assess existing spots and check for any new or changing areas, using clinical tools and your medical history to guide assessment.

Regular skin checks is early detection, which significantly improves treatment outcomes. Identifying skin cancers early can mean simpler treatment, better recovery, and peace of mind. Skin checks are especially important for people with fair skin, sun exposure history, or a family history of skin cancer.
An iron infusion is a treatment where iron is given directly into a vein to help restore low iron levels in the body. It is usually recommended when iron tablets are not effective, not tolerated, or when iron levels need to be corrected more quickly. The infusion is given in the clinic under medical supervision and typically takes a short amount of time.

An iron infusion is rapid improvement in iron levels, which can help relieve symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, and poor concentration. It supports improved energy, wellbeing, and overall quality of life, especially for patients with iron deficiency or anaemia.
Implanon insertion and removal are simple procedures performed by a trained GP to provide or discontinue long-acting contraception. Implanon is a small hormone-releasing rod placed just under the skin of the upper arm and can prevent pregnancy for up to three years. Removal involves a small incision to safely take the implant out when it expires or if you choose to stop using it.

Implanon is highly effective, low-maintenance contraception. It does not require daily tablets, is quickly reversible, and allows fertility to return soon after removal, giving you flexibility and reliable pregnancy prevention.
Preventative health screenings, such as bowel and breast cancer screening, are designed to detect cancer or early warning signs before symptoms appear. Bowel screening can identify hidden blood or changes that may indicate early bowel cancer, while breast screening uses imaging to detect small changes in breast tissue that may not be felt.

By finding problems early, these screenings improve the chance of simpler treatment, better recovery, and long-term health. Regular screening can provide reassurance when results are normal and allows timely follow-up when changes are detected. Preventative screenings play an important role in protecting your health and supporting early, life-saving care.
Diabetes Cycle of Care and weight management appointments focus on supporting people with diabetes or those at risk to manage their health effectively. These visits involve regular monitoring of blood sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, kidney and eye health, as well as reviewing medications, lifestyle habits, and weight.

Through ongoing assessment and personalised guidance, these appointments help reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications and support steady, sustainable weight control. They encourage healthier eating, physical activity, and long-term behaviour changes, while ensuring your care is well coordinated. Regular reviews help keep your condition on track and support better energy levels, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
Chronic Disease Management appointments support people living with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, arthritis, or chronic pain. During these visits, your GP works with you to create and review a personalised care plan that outlines your health goals, treatments, and the healthcare providers involved in your care.

Regular reviews help monitor your condition, adjust medications, and coordinate care with allied health professionals when needed. This ongoing, structured approach helps keep symptoms under control, reduces the risk of complications, and supports better day-to-day functioning. Chronic disease management focuses on long-term wellbeing, empowering you to stay healthier, more active, and confident in managing your condition.
Spirometry and ECGs are diagnostic tests used to assess lung and heart health. Spirometry measures how well your lungs are working by assessing airflow and breathing capacity, helping diagnose and monitor conditions such as asthma and chronic lung disease. An ECG (electrocardiogram) records the electrical activity of your heart to detect rhythm issues, heart strain, or other cardiac concerns.

These tests provide valuable information to support accurate diagnosis and ongoing monitoring. They help guide treatment decisions, track how well current treatments are working, and allow early identification of potential problems—supporting safer, more effective care and better long-term health outcomes.
Mental health consultations provide a safe, confidential space to discuss concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, or emotional challenges. During these appointments, your GP takes time to understand how you’re feeling, assess your mental wellbeing, and discuss support options that may include counselling, lifestyle strategies, medication, or a mental health care plan.

Regular mental health consultations help you feel heard and supported, allow early identification of concerns, and provide ongoing guidance tailored to your needs. With the right support and follow-up, these appointments can improve coping skills, emotional wellbeing, and overall quality of life, helping you feel more in control of your mental health.
Pre-employment, fitness, and driving medicals are medical assessments required to confirm that a person is fit to work, perform specific duties, or drive safely. These medicals may include a review of your medical history, physical examination, vision and hearing checks, and other tests depending on job or licensing requirements.

They help identify health issues that could affect safety or performance and ensure you meet workplace or regulatory standards. Completing these assessments provides reassurance to employers and licensing authorities, supports personal safety, and helps ensure you are medically fit for your role or driving responsibilities.
WorkCover and TAC consultations support patients who have been injured at work or in a transport accident. These appointments focus on assessing your injury, managing pain and symptoms, arranging appropriate treatment, and completing required medical certificates and reports. Your GP may also coordinate care with specialists, allied health providers, and insurers to support your recovery.

These consultations help ensure timely treatment, clear documentation, and ongoing monitoring of your condition. With structured follow-up and coordinated care, they support safer recovery, help you return to work or daily activities when appropriate, and reduce the risk of ongoing or long-term complications.
