Why is Pathology Testing Conducted?

Pathology testing is conducted to understand the cause and nature of a disease in any person. Typically, a doctor will suggest a pathology test. A sample is taken from the patient and sent to a laboratory, where trained staff process, analyse, and report the results. After reviewing the report, our doctors will make an informed decision about the patient’s diagnosis and treatment.

  • Glenroy Pathology can assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of clinical conditions.
  • Pathology is a clinical knowledge service that is essential in modern medical practice.
  • Over 70% of all healthcare decisions are made based on pathology investigations. Conditions such as cancer can also be diagnosed with pathology tests.

Pathology is crucial for the early detection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of many diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. It can be performed at any stage of an individual’s life.

When is a Pathology Test Conducted?

A pathology test is conducted to gain detailed information about your health. They can help:

  • Diagnose a medical condition or determine the cause of your disease.
  • Monitor a medical condition over time.
  • Screen for certain health issues to detect them early, before symptoms worsen.
  • Pathology tests are sometimes conducted for insurance or employment purposes.

With Glenroy Pathology services, diseases can be diagnosed and detected. Here are some common conditions that can be diagnosed with pathology:

  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Hormone imbalances
  • Infections
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Kidney disease

Glenroy Pathology tests can also:

  • Monitor your medication levels in the blood
  • Assess your response to medicines and other treatments
  • Check for vitamin deficiencies
  • Identify allergies
